Mom’s Bedroom

If you are looking for a special way to spruce up your mom’s bedroom, try what many homeowners are currently striving for, a place in their home that has the feel of a bedroom but the conveniences of a complete home. Many master bedroom suites in newer homes today are enormous. This will make it easy to accommodate all the needs of a master suite turned into an apartment like dwelling.

Today many homeowners are choosing to dress up their bedrooms in this unique way. Turning a master suite into a private living area can be a nice way to provide your Mom with a total living area, but where do you start? First, take a look around your mom’s bedroom. What is necessary and what can go? The main furniture should stay, but any exercise equipment, computer desk, crafting corners should be set aside and only returned to the room if there is enough space.

Newer homes today offer master suites which include walk-in closets, large bathrooms which often have a dressing area, a fireplace and most recently some suites include a small kitchen. New builders are adding what's called a morning kitchen. This will include a mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, and a small sink with cabinetry. If your home does not provide a morning kitchen, consider remodeling. The value of your home, according to studies, will rise considerably.

Mom’s bedrooms can be updated if moving or remodeling doesn't quite fit in your budget. Consider adding media shelving or built-in bookcases. Add dark and rich paint colors to the wall to give the room a cozy feel. Canopy beds and four-poster beds can also give the illusion of coziness. Draping the bed with sheer material can give the look for luxury. Don’t forget that your moms bedroom will need drapes that offer privacy. If you use sheers, also use heavier draping that can close off the outside light. Add small personal touches to your mom’s bedroom and she's sure to be happy.
